Biograd Riviera

Biograd Riviera

Biograd

Biograd is the centre of the riviera consisting of Petar na Moru (Peter on the Sea), Turanj, Sv. Filip i Jakov (Sts. Philip and James), Vrgada, Pakostane and Drage.
From small, attractive Saint Peter at Sea from the North, all the way to quaint, blue bays on the South, a modest coast spreads, gravitating to the city of Biograd. Supported by rich and fertile background, framed with blue sea and neckless of the islands, these shores from ancient, brought attention and desire to call them as myself.
Centuries have been bringing ships of bad intentions, from which, like treats and sometimes darings, the horns of war could be heard. Nations, conquestors, army generals, winners and defeated, have written down a rich history of these lands, which even untill today, stay as a magnificent cultural heritage, to be proudly admired to and shown in thrill to a faraway visitor that comes with good intention.
The heritage of times, symbiyosis and conflicts of cultures, religions and ideals, are written in the stone of the monuments, churches, house entrances, under dark trees on the semetaries. To the visitor in need of cultural experience and spiritual vacation, this area will gladly offer a part of its complicated history.
Starting from Saint Peter at Sea, through Turanj, Saint Philip and Jacob all the way to Biograd, old Croatian kingdom capitals, shore and neighbouring island of Pasman draw blue line of the Pasman channel, over which, like marbels from the misterious bag of pearls, numerous islands are spread through. This, on the first hand, careless tranquility and beauty of landscapes, easily spells summer days, making them more gentle than the fast-going nowdays. Across the channel, island of Pasman, the symbol of landscapes, profumes and taste of the ancient. Somewhat on the South, pasman channel ends, and sunny Pakostane and magical bays spread views towards the open sea. And over neckless of the islands that enrich the view, mistriouslly shows probably the most pitoresque landscape of the whole Mediterranean, the stone rapsody of the National park of Kornati.
From Pakostane to Drage, a thin and green line of the shore spreads by the sea in front of the face of Vransko lake, alike soft pillow on your bed. By its surface, the largest lake in Croatia, is a nature park and valuable ornitological reserve, the home of the last Mediterranean herons in these areas. On these shores, every visitor will find its own paths of pleasure. History and wildlife seekers, robinsons, sea sailors, lound nightlifers, inloved romantics or hedonists in the shade of the trees with the sound of waves in their lap.
