Hvar: Pokonji Dol Beaches

Hvar is a the centre of the Riviera which comprises a cluster of offshore islets that are among the best the Adriatic has to offer. The most popular beaches of the town Hvar are situated on the Pakleni islands. Taking its name from 'Paklina', a resin once used to coat ships, the Pakleni Islands offer small, secluded beaches, deserted coves and sun-drenched hills.
Hvar is situated in a picturesque natural setting, facing the south, the sun and the sea. After centuries of unforgetable and amazing history, Hvar is today main tourist centre of the island and one of the best loved tourist resorts on the Dalmatian Riviera.
The most popular beaches of the town Hvar are situated on the Pakleni islands. 21 islet make archipelago of Pakleni otoci, with numerous bathing places and a myriad of small, secluded beaches.
Taking its name from 'Paklina', a resin once used to coat ships, the Pakleni Islands offer small, secluded beaches, deserted coves and sun-drenched hills.
The Islands can be easily reached by frequent taxi boats from the harbour.

HVAR BEACHES

The closest island is Jerolim, directly opposite Hvar town.
The coast of the island of Sveti Jerolim is predominantly rocky, with also nice small shingle beach.
Jerolim is a favourite among naturists who generally stroll away from the main jetty and stretch out on one of the shady coves.
The vegetation, which comes almost right down to the shore, is a mixture of shrub and pine groves.
JEROLIM is a well-known and long-established naturist beach, equipped with showers and a shop. There is a restaurant.

Nearby is the other island - Marinkovac.
The island is partly nudist and has three popular coves.
Stipanska is the first one where taxi boats stop. It is the same taxi boat as for Jerolim. A short walk trough the pinewood will take to a restaurant. STIPANSKA Is naturist beach equipted with showers and small shop.

ŽDRILCA is a cove on Pakleni Otoci, with several pebble beaches and many secluded spots ideal for relaxing and enjoying the sun and sea of Hvar and the picturesque seabed.
Mlin cove to the south is a wonderful bay with a pebbly beach.

The largest Pakleni island is Sveti Klement (sometimes called Veliki Otok or Big Island) most famous for beautiful Palmizana hamlet.
Here, azure waves lick a sandy cove surrounded by pine forests, heather fields and breezes scented by aromatic herbs.
Palmizana has been a favourite getaway for Hvar islanders since the turn of the 20th century when a Professor Eugen Meneghello built a summer house and inn there. Now it houses a small museum and a gallery.
Nearby Vlaka is a small fishing village reachable in an easy hour walk from Palmizana.
PALMIŽANAis a spacious cove with a shallow sandy beach. It is surrounded by a thick pine forest, fragrant heather and rosemary shrubs and a number of exotic plants.
Scuba divers love Palmizana for the vibrant underwater life.

POKONJI DOL is a pebble beach situated cca 2 km from the centre of Hvar.

MEKIĆEVICA is situated only 2.5 km east of the center of Hvar.
It consists of two pebble beaches.
